Reducing Tension

PMR meditation differs from a traditional guided meditation as it focuses on relaxing your body to relax your mind.  Traditional guided meditation focuses on relaxing your mind to relax your body.

Throughout the meditation you are asked to tighten and release different muscles starting at the top of your head and ending at the tips of your toes.

Beginners often find it easier to stay present during a PMR meditation.

Focusing on the muscles provides a purpose and helps to stop the mind from wondering.  Helping you to be present.

Staying present calms the autonomic nervous system.

Therefore, tightening and releasing your muscles, is an excellent way of easing stress and reducing tension.

Supporting Stress Reduction

Stress is cumulative and chronic stress, regardless of the cause, transitions your body to the fight or flight mode.

In the fight or flight mode your breathing becomes shallow and rapid, your startle response is heightened, you are no longer able to focus or concentrate and your muscles tighten up – become rigid.

The tighter and more rigid your body becomes, the harder it is for your energy to flow. Sometimes it can feel like you are wearing clothing at least three (3) sizes too small.  A very uncomfortable feeling indeed.

No wonder it can seem hard to breath, hard to function.

As the tension increases your ability to centre diminishes.  There is no ease or flow.  No grace.

You loose your ability to feel.  You are unable to sense what your body is telling you.  You get trapped in your mind.

The mind takes off in all directions – churning and whirling – creating an ever increasing spiral of tension, anxiety, fear and self-doubt.

PMR meditation is an excellent technique to relax and soften your body allowing you to regain your centring as you reestablish the connect with your body.   Relaxing reduces tension and allows energy to flow with ease and grace.

As your body softens, centring naturally occurs and the mind, happily follows suit.

Reducing tension in the body helps you in its ability to centre and ground.

Although it sounds counterintuitive, PMR meditation is based on the premise that by consciously and physically creating and easing muscle tension, you are helping yourself in a number of ways.

You are acknowledging that you are the one creating the tension in your body.

And, that you are the one capable of removing the tension you created.

You are also showing yourself kindness.  Proving that you do love and honour yourself and in this state of contentment, self-healing can begin.

Session Length

Approximately 60 minutes in length.

The Set-Up

Book a Discovery Call.  It is a 5 minute call to determine if this is the correct session-type to support your group’s requirements.

Purchase a session.  You will be contacted to set up a date/time.

The meditation will be conducted via Zoom.

Prior to the first meditation
All new clients must sign and return a liability waiver.

Prior to the start of each meditation
Each participant must consent to the service and acknowledge and agree to the disclaimers as provided.
