Meditation-relaxation therapy may help treat sleep paralysis
The University of Cambridge found that sleep paralysis could be treated using an a technique of meditation-relaxation.
Meditation-relaxation therapy empowers and teaches patients to follow four steps during a sleep paralysis episode:
1) Reframing the meaning of the attack (normalizing the experience)
2) Psychological and emotional distancing – reminding that there is no reason to worry and be afraid, and that fear and worry will only make it worse
3) Inner focus meditation – focusing their attention on their feelings and something positive, such as a happy memory, event, prayer or affirmation)
4) Muscle relaxation to relax their muscles and to breathe
